About the pistol:
- a simple blow-back action (no locked breech - recoil spring takes over the gas pressure);
- similar construction as the M 1903, but the M 1906 has the striker instead of the hammer;
- grip safety catch (late models);
- sights are fixed;
- 6,35 mm cartridge (.25 ACP) designed by Browning;
- the magazine safety;
- the name “Browning” became the synonym for a small pistol.
Over 4,000.000 were produced (till 1940) when it was superseded by the model Baby
