Safety Mechanisms:
- manual safety (firing-pin block)
- magazine disconnect safety
- long DA first trigger pull
- key-operated integral trigger lock (ILS, or integral locking system).
The manual safety is also the decocker. Switching the safety on decocks the firearm.
It is thus impossible to carry this weapon in the condition “cocked and locked” so familiar to M1911 enthusiasts.
Integral Trigger Lock (ILS) is now standard on all Bersa Thunder pistols

- A long rearward frame tang that virtually eliminates hammer-bite.
- The front strap and rear strap are generously fluted for controlled grip.
- The frontstrap and rearstrap of the grip are reeded for a more secure hold
