About the pistol
- recoil spring fitted around the barrel (it was a Fritz Walther’s idea from 1908), under the front part of the slide, and was held in place by a nosecap with a bayonet fastening (M 1922 only);
- manual (left side of the frame), grip and magazine safety;
- sights are fixed;
- 9×17 mm caliber (.380 ACP) also known as 9 mm Short designed by Browning;
- magazine safety-cartridge can’t be fired without magazine in the butt;
- model 1910 was used by the Serb student Gavrilo Princip who assassinated the Archduke Ferdinand at Sarajevo in June, 1914;
- until 1935 sold over a million (M 1910).
